Many other clients and co-workers will not see things as a designer would. So you must come together to develop the ongoing processes, business decisions, and strategies that enable innovation and create effectively-designed products, services, communication.
Most business majors are trained to analyze information and look at trends. All the while a designer is trained to create the next big thing! It takes time, but the business end will get to understand that design concepts are what make their marketing work. And will learn to work with the designer.
Economics is the main focus of a business degree and supply & demand is one of the ways they make decisions. Going through researching and looking at sales charts till the business managers everything they need to expect. However a design works with emotions and feelings and considers the end user and doesn’t use economics and supply & demand trends. Although, it is common for a designer to look at market trends, and develop personas about their audience.
A designer must prepare themselves for a project by getting their ideas and thought patterns into a business world. They must do some research and find products in the past that have work and reference them and show the business managers the data and sale from it. A solid foundation to a concept will help sell it to them.
Even though a designer needs to put the numbers out there for the business manager, they need to keep in mind and represent to them how colors, sounds, forms, shapes and motions can play on an audience’s senses. It will show their creativity and pull the business manager into more of a creative mode.
